Travel sickness is the set of disorders that a passenger in a moving vehicle can contract: nausea, dizziness, tinnitus, headaches, etc. Whether by car, boat or more rarely by plane, these problems are particularly annoying and make for bad times. Motion sickness particularly affects children, but some adults are also susceptible. This problem would come from a contradiction between the auditory information, which announces a movement (we hear the car driving) and the visual information which announces image stability (looking inside the passenger compartment).

Why these essential oils?

Peppermint: anti-nausea by nature

L'peppermint essential oil is THE anti-nausea reference for essential oils; it is composed of between 30 and 55% menthol, a very good antispasmodic. This component suppresses digestive and intestinal spasms acting on the contractions of the small intestine and thus prevents the appearance of stomach cramps and nausea.

Menthone, a ketone, promotes the secretion of bile by the liver and its evacuation into the intestine; it therefore encourages digestion and will avoid nausea resulting from a heavy meal before using the vehicle. Finally, Peppermint essential oil will give you fresh breath which will make you forget the heat, one of the key factors in transport problems.

Cardamom against abdominal spasms

To avoid feeling sick, the digestive system must function properly. L'cardamom essential oil specializes in digestive disorders and notably promotes the expulsion of intestinal gas.

This essential oil will also help you regain your appetite (often lost during transport problems); in fact, we must not forget that traveling on a completely empty stomach influences nausea.

Terpenyl acetate, a terpene ester, acts on the nervous system and limits the process of triggering spasms: it competes with the molecules responsible for the contraction of smooth muscles and therefore makes it possible to suppress or calm muscle spasms. The associated abdominal pain will disappear.

Petit Grain Bigarade reduces stress

Stress is not innocent in transport-related disorders: it accentuates them. Linalool, a monoterpene alcohol, providesessential oil of Petit Grain Bigarade nervous rebalancing properties. Indeed, linalool increases dopamine levels and thus helps calm excitability. On the other hand, this component has a sedative effect on the autonomic nervous system by acting on different neurotransmitters. Finally, it regulates mood.

Linalyl acetate is a member of the monoterpene ester family. These molecules also have calming and relaxing properties. In addition, they have interesting antispasmodic properties which will combine with the menthol of Peppermint essential oil and another ester, terpenyl acetate, to limit the digestive discomfort felt.

Lemon against nausea

L'lemon essential oil perfectly replaces that of Peppermint, the most famous anti-nausea but contraindicated for children under 6 years old and pregnant women. This Lemon essential oil contains limonene, a terpene which acts on gastric motility and which therefore gives it interesting anti-nausea properties.

Like the essential oil of Peppermint, that of Lemon promotes the secretion of bile by the liver then its evacuation into the intestine, which encourages the phenomenon of digestion and limits disorders due to transport.

In addition, lemon tastes good and brings freshness to this synergy which will therefore be appreciated by children.
